The first two inFAMOUS games still hold a strong place in the PS3 library, but they have become awkward classics to revisit. They are remembered fondly, yet modern PlayStation players do not have a clean, simple way to play them on current hardware. That is why a new rumor about a possible PS5 collection has picked up attention so quickly.

The claim is that Sony is working with an unnamed developer to bring the early inFAMOUS games to PS5. For now, though, this should stay firmly in rumor territory. The person sharing the story has said the information came from one specific source and has not been backed up by other contacts, so there is no solid confirmation yet.

Fans have also noticed one curious detail since the rumor began moving around. A 2022 Sucker Punch blog post appears to have been removed. That post previously stated that the studio had no current plans to return to inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper, and that no other studio was working on projects tied to those series either. On its own, that does not prove anything, but it has made the timing feel more interesting.

A remake or collection could make sense for inFAMOUS in a way that goes beyond nostalgia. The PS3 originals had style, speed, and plenty of charm, but they could also feel rough around the edges. Cleaner visuals, steadier performance, and a more polished presentation would do a lot for those games. The core gameplay may not need a heavy rethink, because Sucker Punch has long been good at making superpowered movement and combat feel smooth. DualSense support would be a welcome modern touch, too.

The age of the series is easy to forget. The first inFAMOUS arrived in 2009, which makes it 17 years old, while inFAMOUS 2 launched in 2011 and is now 15 years old. A bundle would likely be expected to include the standalone Festival of Blood expansion as well, even if it is generally seen as weaker than the main entries. Sony has already shown interest in revisiting older hits, with remakes of the original God of War Trilogy announced during a State of Play earlier this year, so the idea does not feel impossible.

For Z-retro, an inFAMOUS return would be easiest to welcome if Sony is clear about who is making it and how carefully the games are being handled. The series has enough history to deserve more than a quick polish, but a thoughtful PS5 collection could give longtime fans and new players a useful way back in.
