Fox McCloud and the Star Fox crew are set to fly again next month, with the team returning to defend the Lylat system on Switch 2. The new version is scheduled for 25 June 2026, giving Nintendo's space shooter a clear landing point on the new hardware.
Nintendo has now outlined more of what players can expect, including the price. The digital release is listed at £41.99 / $49.99, while the physical version costs $10 more in the US. That places this return above a small retro add-on, but below many full-price releases.
The package includes a campaign with full cinematics and an orchestral soundtrack described as epic. Beyond the main adventure, players can expect co-op, local and online multiplayer, GameShare, and amiibo support.
There is also a new GameChat-linked feature that lets players become a Star Fox character, adding a social twist alongside the usual flying and fighting. For longtime fans, the mix of cinematic presentation and multiplayer options may be the main reason to take another trip into the Lylat system.

Z-retro sees this as a neat test of how Nintendo handles familiar classics on Switch 2: respectful of the past, but with enough modern extras to make players weigh the price and features for themselves.
