Hollowbody is coming to PS5 in June, with solo developer Headware Games bringing the survival horror game across after its PC launch in 2024. That version built a solid response on Steam, where user reviews sit at a “very positive” level.
The setup has a clear old horror pull, but the setting moves things forward. Hollowbody is described as a near-future take on Silent Hill-style survival horror, following an unlicensed black market shipper who enters a ruined British city to find their partner. After a hover crash inside the exclusion zone, they are left stranded with few resources.
The PS5 announcement footage shows a mix of modern visuals and familiar survival horror habits. Interaction prompts call back to the days of Silent Hill and classic Resident Evil, while the camera is not locked into fixed angles. The result still carries a PS1-era mood, just with a cleaner and more current presentation.
This PS5 edition includes the base game along with the updates and improvements added to the PC release over the past year and a half. Those additions include more puzzles, extra locations, and quality-of-life changes. Pre-orders are set to appear on the PS Store today at $16.99.
On Metacritic, Hollowbody currently has a score of 74. Noisy Pixel gave the game an 8/10, noting that its combat and puzzle balance can stumble, but praising the world-building and attention to detail as strong reasons for genre fans to play it.
Z-retro’s view: Hollowbody looks like a careful blend of retro survival horror language and newer sci-fi ideas. For PS5 players who enjoy slower, mood-heavy horror, it may be worth watching when it arrives in June.
