dbrand has a new accessory for Switch 2, and it is not being shy about the sales pitch. The company has launched a controller holder for Joy-Con 2, claiming the setup is more comfortable than a Pro Controller.

The holder is basically a plastic frame that lets you slot in the Joy-Con 2 controllers for a more traditional gamepad shape. It sounds a little like JSAUX's JoyVerse grip, though dbrand's version appears to include a hinge, giving players some room to adjust the angle.

By itself, the controller holder costs $19.95. It is also made to work with dbrand's Joy-Lock Grips, which are sold separately for another $19.95. Buying the holder and Joy-Lock Grips together drops the total by $5, bringing the bundle to $34.90.

There is one more add-on in the mix: Stick Grips for the analogue sticks, priced at $9.95. Pick up the full set and the total comes to $44.95. That is roughly half of what an official Pro Controller would usually cost, though the big question is whether a Joy-Con-based setup can truly feel better in the hands.

Pro Controller

That is not a knock on dbrand so much as a reality check. Even with a stronger grip around them, Joy-Con are still Joy-Con, and they have a very different feel from Nintendo's full-size controller. Still, accessory makers need a bit of swagger, and dbrand clearly has plenty of that here.

dbrand does have some Switch 2 form in this space. Its Killswitch Case was previously rated 8/10, with praise for its design and comfort. Whether this new holder can make the same kind of case for Joy-Con 2 comfort is the interesting part.
