A Small But Notable Milestone

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap has reached a fresh point in its preservation story. Thanks to work by 999sian, the game's decompilation has now produced a playable native PC port. For fans of the tiny-cap adventure, that is a neat moment, even if it is still more workshop bench than finished display piece.

The current build should be treated carefully. It is not complete, and bugs are part of the package for now. The developer has noted that both the rendering side and the gameplay route still need a lot of attention, so this is not yet the smooth modern PC version some players may be picturing.

What Is Available Now

  • Windows and Linux builds can be used.
  • Audio is mostly absent at this stage.
  • There are no added refinements, upgrades, or quality-of-life changes.
  • Players must provide their own copy of the game ROM, since one is not included.

That last point matters: this is a native port project, not a bundled release of the game. Right now, it is best understood as a starting line. It may grow into something more useful over time, but at present it does not really offer an advantage over simply playing The Minish Cap through emulation.
