Warnel Chawpiovs has moved up to version 1.0.0, and this release is a much bigger step than the small 0.1 build that came before it. The homebrew card game helper is now available for PC and Nintendo Switch, with a macOS build also added to the download page after release. For players who like their tabletop games with a little digital support, this is the kind of practical fan project that feels right at home in the Z-retro corner: a bit homemade, a bit experimental, and built around making a complicated favorite easier to enjoy.
The main new content comes from The Rise of Red Skull box from the original board game. Version 1.0.0 adds two heroes, Hawkeye and Spider-Woman, along with five new villains from that set. It also introduces Adventure Mode, giving players another way to approach the game beyond the earlier setup. The release is still clearly presented as an unfinished project with room to grow, but the jump in version number matches the wider card pool and the new mode.
Why It Exists
Warnel Chawpiovs was made for players who enjoy Marvel Champions, especially solo, but find the rules load heavy enough to slow the table down. The idea is simple: let the computer take care of the rule work so the player can focus more on the match itself. That does not turn the project into an official digital version, and it does not remove every rough edge, but it explains the shape of the app. It is trying to make a rules-dense card game less tiring to run, especially when playing alone.
Solo play is the safer focus right now. The game can be played with one hero or with multiple heroes, and there is a multiplayer mode included as well. The important caveat is that multiplayer is not considered reliable at this stage. The creator also warns that playing with more than one hero is not recommended for now, partly because of performance. In other words, the cleanest way to try this build is with a single hero and a little patience for the homebrew quirks that may show up.

Release Notes At A Glance
- Version 1.0.0 is available for PC, Nintendo Switch, and macOS.
- The update adds Hawkeye and Spider-Woman as playable heroes.
- Five villains from The Rise of Red Skull box have been added.
- Adventure Mode is now included.
- Multiplayer exists, but it is not working consistently enough to rely on.
- More bugs, rule issues, crashes, and memory problems are still expected.
Nintendo Switch users need to launch the Homebrew Menu in full speed mode, not applet mode. The described method is to hold the Right Shoulder button, R, while launching a cartridge game. That detail matters because the project can be demanding, especially during setup and while running with more than the simplest play state. It is a small retro-handheld-style ritual, but in this case it is also a practical requirement.
The first run may take a while if the right core.zip file is not already present. Packages hosted on the creator's website include that file, while the GitHub packages do not. Without it, the game will try to download images and other resources, so internet access is needed for that step. The creator notes that this can be long on Nintendo Switch, around 15 minutes in their own experience. Gameplay videos are also available as examples for anyone who wants to see how the homebrew plays before setting it up.
There is still a lot on the to-do list. The creator points to bugs in rule enforcement, possible crashes, memory issues, and the many remaining cards from the original game that could still be added later. The long-term hope is to get multiplayer working in a more consistent way. For players who mainly want to play Marvel Champions online with friends right now, the creator points to Marvel Champions Digital Edition, another unofficial fan game, as a better current option for that specific use.
