Sega has dipped into the archives and brought out early concept art from the original Sonic Adventure, giving fans a small but charming look at how Sonic’s first major 3D adventure was taking shape.
Sonic Adventure first launched on Dreamcast and later came to GameCube through Sonic Adventure DX in 2003. For many players, it marked the moment Sonic truly stepped into 3D, with familiar speed, bright stages, and a new sense of scale.
The artwork was shared as part of Sonic’s 35th anniversary celebrations through the official Sonic the Hedgehog social media account. It shows recognizable zones and characters from the game, pulled from Sega’s own archive rather than newly made anniversary material.
There is more planned for the anniversary year, too. Sonic voice actor Roger Craig Smith recently teased some “exciting stuff” ahead, including a Sonic birthday bash in June at IGN Live.

Sonic will also be back on the big screen soon after, with Sonic the Hedgehog 4 set to arrive in cinemas on March 19, 2027. For fans who still have a soft spot for the Adventure era, this archive drop is a neat reminder of how much that Dreamcast chapter still matters.
