Sega has moved from the game room to the office chair with a new collaboration from furniture maker Branch. The range gives Branch's Ergonomic Chair Pro a Sega twist, with three versions based on Sonic the Hedgehog, Dreamcast, and Genesis.

The Lineup

  • Sonic edition: $569, using performance mesh.
  • Dreamcast edition: $629, finished in vegan leather.
  • Genesis edition: $629, also finished in vegan leather.

The chairs are not just themed shells. Each model includes 14 points of adjustment and 5D armrests. The lumbar support can be adjusted for height and depth, and it can also be removed entirely. Users can control seat height, seat depth, tilt, tilt tension, and forward seat tilt, while the headrest adjusts on two axes.

Branch describes the Sega edition as a collaboration that connects ergonomic research with Sonic and the classic consoles that helped shape a generation of gaming. The idea is simple: a chair made for workdays and game nights, but carrying a bit of Sega history in its design.

Z-retro's view: this is a neat crossover for fans who want their setup to nod to Sega without turning the room into a display case. The prices are firmly in premium chair territory, so the appeal will likely depend on how much the design and comfort features matter to each buyer.
