A Cabinet-Ready MiSTer
The MiSTer Multisystem team has released its second JAMMA-based MiSTer kit, called the MiSTer Multisystem2 Arcade System. It is designed as a complete MiSTer setup that plugs into an existing arcade machine, letting players use FPGA cores directly through the cabinet’s CRT, joystick, and buttons.
Like the main MiSTer Multisystem 2, this arcade version does not need a separate DE-10 Nano. That keeps the idea simple: the needed FPGA hardware is part of the system, so cabinet owners are not building around the usual kit-plus-DE-10 setup.
The appeal is the all-in-one approach. Fully integrated MiSTer systems can offer the same kind of features as the standard MiSTer kit route, while aiming for a lower cost and an easier first setup. For many users, the path is closer to buying the unit, reading the instructions, and getting started.
Pre-orders are listed at https://shop.heber.co.uk/multisystem2-arcade-system-jamma-with-black-enclosure/. A launch video is also available for anyone who wants to see the system running before deciding whether it fits their cabinet setup.
Z-retro sees this as a practical option for arcade fans who want MiSTer’s flexible FPGA library inside real JAMMA hardware. It is not the only route into cabinet-based MiSTer play, but the integrated design should make the choice easier to understand.
