A Neo Geo Fighter Gets A Modern Tune-Up
World Heroes Perfect, SNK's 1995 arcade fighter, is coming back with a modern re-release built for online play. It is the fourth and most complete game in the time-travelling World Heroes series, and this new version adds rollback netcode, a feature many fighting game fans now expect when playing across the internet.
The catch is simple: PS5 players are being left out for now. All four World Heroes games can already be bought on the PlayStation Store through Hamster's ACA Neo Geo line, so the series is not missing from PlayStation entirely. This updated release, though, is a different package, with newer multiplayer tools rather than a straight arcade preservation release.
SNK says the Steam version keeps the original feel while adding features such as online battles, rollback netcode, and a Practice Mode. It will also support modern lobbies, with room for up to nine players. That should make it easier to settle into longer sessions, watch matchups rotate, and sharpen old-school fundamentals without needing to crowd around a cabinet like it is 1995 again.
This release is part of SNK's Neo Geo Premium Selection line. It is the third game in that series so far, following Real Bout: Fatal Fury 2 and Kizuna Encounter. At the moment, these Premium Selection releases have all been PC exclusives, which makes the absence of a PS5 version less surprising, even if it still stings for console players who enjoy SNK's older fighting catalogue.

The roster is also being handled generously. Every original character is included, and that includes Zeus, who was previously only playable in the SEGA Saturn port. For retro fighting fans, that gives this edition a neat collector's edge as well as the practical benefits of training tools and improved online play. The big hope now is that SNK eventually sees enough console demand to bring these ports to PS5 too, perhaps with crossplay to keep the player base together.
