A Fresh Route For A Classic Name
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is a surprising new turn for one of gaming's most beloved old names. The project stands out because Konami appears to have been won over by Evil Empire's earlier Castlevania pitch for Dead Cells.
That connection makes sense when you look at the path behind it. Motion Twin created Dead Cells, then Evil Empire was formed as a separate studio to help build extra content for the action roguelike.
Dead Cells has always carried clear love for Metroidvania design, including the kind of ideas players connect with Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. So the 2023 Return to Castlevania DLC felt like a natural meeting point.
Now Belmont's Curse looks like the next step from that trust. It also fits a welcome pattern: big publishers letting skilled indie teams work with quieter classic series. For retro fans, that can mean old legends returning with new hands on the controller.
