North American Orders Are Complicated Right Now
The Neo Geo AES+ has clearly touched a nerve with retro fans. Interest in the new system has been strong, but buyers in North America have found that placing a pre-order is not as smooth as expected.
Plaion has now explained the issue through its social channels. For the moment, the company says the most practical choice for many customers in the region is to pre-order through Amazon.
Why The Replai Store Is Limited
The hold-up is tied to Plaion's own Replai online store. That store ships from Europe, and the heavy demand for the Neo Geo AES+ products has created extra tax registration work that needs to be handled in individual US states.

Until those registrations are completed, direct ordering from Plaion is not available for affected North American customers. Plaion has framed this as a temporary problem, not a sign that the system is skipping the region.
The Ultimate Edition Is The Tricky One
Amazon may solve the problem for some buyers, but it does not cover every version. The much-wanted Ultimate Edition, which includes all ten launch games, is only being sold directly by Plaion.
Plaion says customers will be able to pre-order the Ultimate Edition once the store issues are resolved. If that is the version you want, it may be worth waiting instead of settling for another option too quickly.

A Familiar Shape From 1990

The Neo Geo AES+ is described as a 1:1 recreation of SNK's original Neo Geo Advanced Entertainment System. That home console arrived in 1990 alongside the arcade-based MVS hardware.
Its library is part of why this new version has drawn so much attention. The Neo Geo name is tied to arcade favorites such as Metal Slug, Windjammers, King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, and Neo Turf Masters.
