8BitMods' BitLink project is giving the Dreamcast another neat modern twist. The aftermarket adapter is built for Sega's final home console and fits into one of the VMU ports on an original controller.
BitLink is not just about wireless play. It also includes RGB lighting and controller mapping, keeping the old pad familiar while adding a few features that feel much more current.
The clever part is inside the adapter: an accelerometer and gyroscope. With those sensors, certain Dreamcast games can use motion input, turning gentle tilts of the controller into in-game movement.
8BitMods has shown the feature working with F355 Challenge. In the demo, the original gamepad acts like a simple racing wheel, giving the classic Sega racer a playful new way to handle corners.

The BitLink DC Kit is priced at £69.98 and is available to order. For Dreamcast fans who enjoy original hardware with a modern touch, it is a small add-on with a very retro-friendly trick.
